There are some things that are not technically cheating but have no business in a marriage.
Many inappropriate relationships don’t start with anything obvious.
They start with access.
A married man doesn’t need to assume every woman around him wants to steal him from his wife.
But he should understand that protecting a marriage sometimes means refusing certain kinds of closeness before they have the opportunity to become something else.
Here are some things a married man should never allow another woman to do for him:
8 Things a Married Man Should Never Allow Another Woman to Do for Him
1. Become the person he runs to with his problems

It’s such a privilege to have someone in your life you can run to and bare your mind to.
Such an underrated privilege!
I mean, some people literally get paid to do this.
Therapists have built careers around giving people a safe place to unpack their feelings and say the things they cannot say anywhere else.
So when someone becomes the person you run to whenever life gets heavy, please understand that this is not a small role.
But if you are a married man, another woman who is not your paid therapist shouldn’t be occupying this role.
The person you consistently bare your soul to becomes the person you feel closest to.
And closeness is not built only through romance or sex, but through a thousand conversations nobody thought were dangerous.
Your wife may not always have the perfect response, but if another woman has become your first call for emotional support, you are wrong, bro.
2. Regularly cook special meals for him
If it’s not paid meals from a known vendor, why should another woman be regularly cooking special meals for you?
I’m asking because food is not just food when it becomes personal and consistent.
Yes, your female colleague brings food for everyone at work, you can eat in peace.
Your neighbor made a huge pot of soup and shared some with your family, awesome.
But another woman regularly cooking specifically for you?
Nah.
That is effort.
And repeated effort creates familiarity.
So, no. You can’t be cooking regularly for another woman’s husband.
3. Buy him deeply personal gifts
It’s my birthday in two days, and I’ve already been receiving gifts from loved ones, mostly women, though. Lol.
I love giving, but I’m struggling to receive, so this year, I made a birthday wishlist, and wow, it feels so good to receive.
Gifts are one of the ways we celebrate people we love and appreciate.
So the issue is not gifts, but another woman giving a married man gifts that are personal, frequent, and intimate.
See this: “Happy birthday! I got you this.”
And: “I saw this perfume and immediately thought of you because I know you love woody fragrances.”
You see the difference?
Personal gifts communicate:
I’ve been paying attention to you.
I know what you like.
I remember what you said.
I notice you.
I think about you even when you’re not around.
If another woman starts giving you thoughtful and intimate gifts that make you feel seen by her, a married man should have enough wisdom to examine that dynamic, especially if the gifts are becoming a secret.
One of my favorite tests for questionable boundaries in marriage is this:
Can you comfortably take it home and tell your wife who gave it to you?
Sometimes a gift comes with no strings attached.
And sometimes those strings are invisible until you’re already tangled in them.
4. Become your marriage counselor

One of the worst things you can do when you’re having problems with your wife is to discuss those problems with another woman you’re attracted to or could potentially become attracted to.
I don’t care how “mature” both of you claim to be.
That’s dangerous territory.
Think about what happens every time you complain about your wife.
“My wife doesn’t understand me.”
“She doesn’t appreciate anything I do.”
“We barely have sex anymore.”
“She is always complaining.”
And this other woman listens patiently, sympathizes with you, and tells you what your frustrated heart wants to hear.
“Wow. That must be hard.”
“You’re such a good man. You don’t deserve that.”
She doesn’t have to raise children with you, discuss bills with you, live with your annoying habits, or deal with you when you’re stressed and grumpy.
She just has to listen for thirty minutes and be sweet.
Of course, she’s understanding.
And this is how some emotional affairs begin.
If your marriage is struggling, get appropriate help.
Talk to your wife, speak to a qualified marriage counselor, talk to a mature mentor or trusted person who respects your marriage and isn’t personally entangled with you.
Don’t turn a woman who could become a romantic option into your unofficial marriage counselor.
5. Flirt with him “as a joke”
It’s funny how people put “just joking” behind something inappropriate and expect it to become appropriate.
“I would have married you if you weren’t married.”
Just joking.
“Your wife is lucky. If you were single, I wouldn’t let you rest.”
Just joking.
Jokes test boundaries.
Flirting disguised as humor is just somebody throwing out a little bait to see what comes back.
Will you laugh?
Will you flirt back?
Will you say, “If only we had met earlier”?
Will you start looking forward to these exchanges?
And as a married man, you don’t need to respond to every flirtation with a lecture on the sanctity of marriage.
All you need to do is not feed it.
Don’t return the energy or enjoy the attention so much that you keep the door open for more.
It feels good to know someone still finds you attractive.
It strokes the ego, and because nothing physical has happened, you think you’re doing nothing wrong.
Boundaries aren’t just for when someone tries to kiss you.
They are for all the little moments that make that kiss more likely.
6. Be physically affectionate with him in ways that feel intimate

Every culture and friendship has different levels of physical affection, so there’s context.
But you know when a touch is no longer just a touch.
You know the difference between a quick friendly hug and that hug.
You know when her hand stays on your arm longer than necessary.
And most importantly, you know how those touches make you feel.
If you notice that you enjoy another woman’s physical affection in a way that creates excitement, attraction, or sexual tension, that’s your cue to create some distance.
You don’t prove your faithfulness by getting as close to temptation as possible and congratulating yourself for not crossing the final line.
That’s like standing at the edge of a swimming pool in slippery slippers and shouting, “But I haven’t fallen inside!”
Okay, but why are you there?
And don’t use “She’s just naturally affectionate” as an excuse either.
Maybe she is.
Your boundary is still your responsibility.
7. Keep secrets with him that his wife cannot know
I’m trying to think of a legitimate reason why a married man would keep secrets from his wife with another woman.
And I’m struggling.
Of course, not everything another person tells you is yours to repeat.
If a female friend tells you something personal about her own life in confidence, being married doesn’t give you permission to broadcast her business to your wife.
That’s confidentiality.
But that’s very different from creating secrets about the relationship between the two of you.
“Don’t tell your wife I came over.”
“Delete our chats so she doesn’t misunderstand.”
“Let’s just keep this between us.”
There’s something bonding about us knowing something nobody else knows, especially when the person being deliberately excluded is your spouse.
Now the two of you have a private little world, and that can never be innocent.
8. Constantly validate his attractiveness

Everybody likes compliments, even men who pretend like they don’t care.
Unfortunately, men don’t get compliments as often as women do.
A woman can post a nice picture, and before she has even dropped her phone, her friends are in the comments screaming,
“Girl!!! 😍”
“Bodyyyy!”
“You ate!”
“Face card never declines!”
So yes, when a woman starts telling a man how handsome, attractive, intelligent, and funny he is, it feels really good.
There’s nothing wrong with another woman complimenting a married man.
“You look nice today.”
“That’s a great suit.”
“You did an amazing job on that presentation.”
Normal human interaction.
But when one particular woman becomes a regular source of validation for him, problem!
Marriage doesn’t mean a man has to stop talking to women, stop having female friends, or become suspicious of every woman who shows him kindness.
The point here is discernment.
Setting boundaries will help you avoid situations where doing something wrong becomes easier.
You don’t need to hate another woman to set a boundary with her.
You set the boundary because you know you’re human.
