To be honest, first trimester has to be the most distressing period I’ve ever had to deal with in my life.
Of course, I’ve dealt with some distressing things in life, but dealing with first trimester pregnancy sickness tops them all.
Is it the nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, excessive salivating, loss of appetite, sensitivity to smell etc.?
Anyway, desperate times call for desperate measures. These weird first trimester symptoms made me do some weird things as well.
Here are the 5 weird things I did in first trimester:
1. Peeing inside the room
I was extremely fatigued to the extent that I couldn’t walk to the toilet to pee.
And because I was peeing so frequently, I had to bring in a bucket to the room, beside our bed.
That was where I peed.
I was also constipated because I wasn’t eating well and wasn’t mobile. So, the bucket was my toilet for weeks. Months.
Don’t ‘eww’ me, please. LOL.
2. I went about with a spit bottle
Because I was salivating excessively, I had a bowl in the room to collect saliva, and also had a water bottle to spit into in my bag anytime I had to go out.
I had to do that because my mouth was always filled with copious saliva. There was no way I could make a sentence without saliva getting in the way, so I just had to use the water bottle.
It’d seem like I was taking a sip of water.
Anytime I dared go to the shop without my spit bottle, I’d use one of the shop’s plastic bag to collect saliva because there was no way I could swallow the saliva.
3. I watched the first six seasons of Scandal series
Even though I’d known about Scandal for years, I didn’t start to watch the series until November/December 2017.
Because I was in bed all day throughout my first trimester days, I had no choice than to watch a series.
I could not even write (I felt miserable because I couldn’t write). But I managed to read some books. Reading is my favourite hobby.
So I binge watched the series, and I really loved it!
Olivia Pope. President Grant. Cyrus. Jake. Abby. Huck- Mellie….. Hahaha. These characters stayed with me. And the popular words of Olivia Pope, ”It’s handled!”
I was addicted to the series. I watched it day and night. It really helped me to survive the pregnancy sickness days.
4. I ate breakfast at 3 a.m/4 a.m
Yes, you read that right.
I ate at odd hours because if I woke up hungry, nausea and vomiting would hit me like a tsunami.
So the fear of the duo made me to eat before 5 a.m. I read a book while I ate. It was my routine.

5. I sent hubby out of the bed
Yes, I did.
I couldn’t stand another person’s skin touching mine. In fact, this lasted throughout my pregnancy.
It was quite weird considering the fact that I love(d) cuddling.
There was no way I could share the bed with my constant turning and spitting.
What weird things did you do in your first trimester?

The first trimester constant salivation drove me nuts in my last pregnancy. Your humor is captivating though.

Third trimester was my main nightmare. My first trimester wasn't really eventful, no vomiting, no salivating, just nausea and craving for other peoples' food. Food brought for my patients, party food, any other food apart from the ones I cooked, but unfortunately despite the cravings nausea will not allow me to eat.
