7 Signs Your Wife Has Fallen for Another Man

7 Signs Your Wife Has Fallen for Another Man

No matter the culture you belong to, one thing is universal: as a married woman, you are not supposed to be falling for another man.

But does it happen?

A lot.

More than anyone wants to admit at church, work, friendships, neighborhood, etc

Most times, the husband usually feels it.

This post is for that husband.

I’m not trying to turn you into a detective or give you a weapon, but a man who knows what he’s looking at can do something about it while there is still time.

When a wife is developing feelings for another man, she doesn’t always know how to stop it.

She may not even want to yet, but the marriage is not over until it’s over.

And some of the women who almost lost everything came back because their husbands saw the signs early enough to fight for what they had.

7 Signs Your Wife Has Fallen for Another Man

1. She’s suddenly very concerned about her appearance, but not for you

Many of us women love looking good.

Well, I do.

My skincare routine and products are prescribed by a certified dermatologist.

I go for monthly facials at the dermatologist’s clinic, and I wear mostly tailor-made clothes.

I moved from Europe to Africa two years ago, so it’s way affordable for me.

And seeing my fragrance collections every morning fills my heart with joy and gratitude.

I’m not bragging, just trying to paint you a picture of how many women love looking good.

But no matter how much a woman loves looking good, when she’s falling for another man, that effort will be multiplied.

And if you have a wife who doesn’t care much about her appearance since you’ve been married, now suddenly, new clothes, new perfumes, and there’s something new in the way she carries herself.

Like she’s looking really good, and you think, finally, God has answered your prayer.

Unfortunately, all her efforts have nothing to do with wanting you to look at her because she looks good when she’s leaving and ordinary when she’s with you.

So the question is not whether she’s making an effort.

The question is who the effort is for.

2. She Starts Protecting Her Phone

We all know that in this day and age, our secrets are in our phones.

In fact, many of us spend more time on our phones than elsewhere.

So expect a woman who has fallen for another man not to get careless with her phone because she doesn’t want to be caught.

We live in a digital world, and just as we have normal conversations via our smartphones with different app options available to us, extramarital talks are made through phones as well.

Maybe before, her phone used to lie face-up beside you, and you could even pick it up and look through it; now, that phone is glued to her chest like a newborn baby.

Even passwords have changed, notifications hidden, brightness reduced, and she’s smiling at texts at 11:47 pm like somebody who won a Grammy.

These aren’t normal phone behaviors.

Women are usually emotional creatures, so when a woman starts emotionally investing in another man, she becomes attached to the communication.

She may not even be sleeping with him, but emotionally, she’s already there.

If your wife suddenly becomes overly secretive with her phone when she was never like that before, don’t start screaming “cheater!”

But don’t ignore it either. Secrecy is the mother of affairs.

3. She Stops Looking at You Like You’re Her Person

When women are in love, it shows.

I don’t care how shy or hard we claim to be.

There’s always that softness and look we reserve for a man we admire emotionally.

Even when he’s saying nonsense, we’ll still be looking at him like, “Wow.”

That’s why one of the biggest signs your wife’s heart is drifting somewhere else is when that softness towards you starts disappearing.

You feel like a roommate she shares bills with instead of the man she’s emotionally connected to.

Meanwhile, let her phone light up, and suddenly she is smiling at the screen like her high school love just entered her life again.

But getting her to be excited with you is like pulling water out of a rock.

And you are not Moses.

4. She’s picking fights to create distance

This one will have you apologizing for things you’re not even sure you did because lately, everything you do is wrong, even the way you breathe.

The fights are coming more frequently, over things that don’t match the level of emotion she’s bringing to them.

And somehow, every argument ends with her needing space.

You know why she’s doing this?

Because it is very hard to justify feelings for someone else when your marriage is good.

Even if the marriage is not good, falling for another man is an abomination.

So, the fighting is not about the fighting.

It is about creating enough distance and grievance to make the other thing feel okay.

5. Intimacy has dried up, and she doesn’t care

Physical intimacy in marriage has seasons.

Everybody who has been married longer than two years knows that life is busy and children are exhausting.

Sometimes, the last thing either of you has energy for at the end of the day is anything other than sleep.

But then, I have been married for a decade, and no matter how busy my husband and I get, if we don’t make love in three days, I start looking at him sideways.

So, the busyness doesn’t kill the desire; it just delays it.

And when we finally find our way back to each other, it feels like coming up for air.

That is what sex in a healthy marriage feels like…that even when you are exhausted, you miss it and reach out to each other.

If your wife doesn’t care that you haven’t been intimate in days and even weeks, and she’s perfectly healthy, something else is going on.

She’s not initiating, and even when you do, she acts like you are bothering her; maybe her desire has moved from you to another person. 😩

6. She mentions his name

”Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”

That’s straight from the Bible, my favorite book on the planet, and it is one of the most psychologically accurate sentences ever written.

What fills your heart will eventually fill your mouth.

You cannot think about someone constantly and keep their name completely contained.

It will always leak.

I know this personally because my husband and I are temporarily separated because of distance right now.

And I cannot tell you how many times I have opened my mouth to call my friend who is standing right in front of me, and his name came out instead.

Because he lives at the top of my mind, whatever I’m about to say, some part of my brain filed it under him first.

That is what love does. It reorganizes your mind around a person.

When your wife, who is supposed to be reorganized around you, keeps mentioning another man’s name, that man is likely living rent-free in your wife’s head.

And then there’s the opposite version, where the name suddenly disappears.

She mentioned him once by mistake, and then nothing, which means she caught herself.

And if she had to catch herself, there was something to catch.

7. Something in your gut has been telling you for a while

Signs Your Husband is Secretly Unhappy With Your Physical Intimacy

Even though I always say women are blessed with the gift of intuition more than men, it doesn’t mean men don’t have it.

They do, it just arrives as a low-level discomfort.

So you’ve been feeling uneasy, but you can’t point to a single piece of evidence.

You can’t explain it to anyone without sounding paranoid, yet the feeling is there, showing up every time she laughs at her phone or comes home distracted to give you a one-word answer where she used to give you a paragraph.

That feeling is not paranoia.

That is a man who knows his wife and knows that something has changed.

This is not permission to blow up your marriage on a gut feeling.

It is a nudge to have a conversation with your wife without accusation.

Tell her what you’ve noticed, and that you need to know if there’s something the two of you should be talking about.

A woman who loves her marriage will hear that and come toward you.

If you are the wife who is developing feelings for another man, come close.

I’m not here to judge you.

Sometimes, you cannot always control what your heart does, but you can absolutely control what you do with what your heart is doing.

And right now, what your heart is doing is putting everything you’ve built, your home, your family, and your reputation, at risk.

It is not too late to turn around.

Go home. Emotionally, I mean.

Come back to your husband.

Have your own hard conversation.

Get counseling.

Do the work. Because the feeling you have for this other man, as real as it feels right now, was built on stolen moments and careful presentations.

Your marriage was built on real life. And real life, tended to, is always worth more than a feeling.

The grass is not greener on the other side.

It’s greener where you water it.

Go water your marriage, sis!

I am head over heels in love with my husband and I do ALL of these things for him.

This goes on to confirm that once I do this for another, I have definitely switched sides.

And yes, it's so beautiful to read something that doesn't sound robotic in this current age.

Kudos, Mabel!
