There are sentences a man says when he is tired, angry, overwhelmed, or sad.

And there are also sentences a man starts saying when his heart has left his marriage and is now renting space somewhere else.

Remember that Bible verse that says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”

Exactly.

No matter how much a person tries to hide what is going on inside them, their words will eventually start giving them away.

The mouth is not as loyal as the heart thinks it is.

So a man may still come home and sleep on the same bed with you, but if his heart has started moving toward another woman, his language will begin to change.

He may not say, “I’m in love with someone else.”

Of course not.

That one would require courage, honesty, and accountability, and many people don’t like those three siblings.

Instead, he will start saying things that make you pause.

When a Man Is in Love With Someone Else, He Says These 7 Things to His Wife

1. “You’re always complaining.”

One thing many men do when they are no longer feeling you is make you the problem.

Yes, some women can nag and complain for Africa, but I’m talking about a woman who is not problematic here.

One who has noticed that all is not well in her marriage and is just reacting to her husband’s strange behavior, and the man accuses her of being “the nagging wife.”

Meanwhile, he’s acting all sweet with another woman, listening to her, replying to her texts at the drop of a hat, and being unusually patient with her.

The wife at home is begging for the bare minimum while he’s somewhere typing, “Good morning, beautiful ❤️”

When a man falls for another woman, his wife’s emotions irritate him because his emotions are directed towards another, not because his wife is doing too much.

2. “I just need space.”

I absolutely enjoy my husband’s company, but I love my space too.

As an introvert and a creative, I need space to think!

I’m also a mom of two who is trying to be intentional about being present for my kids.

So, I need my space to function.

Men have this need for space too, and they should enjoy it.

Just because your husband needs some space doesn’t mean another woman is in the picture.

It only gets suspicious when emotional withdrawal is disguised as “space” because when a man is emotionally entangled with another woman, home will start feeling emotionally crowded to him.

That’s why he wants to distance himself all the time.

He might stay longer at work, sit in the car outside for 40 minutes before entering the house, always pressing his phone, and always mentally absent and tired.

Yet this same man, the man who has no energy to talk to his wife, can still stay awake till 1 a.m., chatting happily with somebody’s daughter.

Amazing strength!

A man cannot deeply pour emotional excitement into another connection without his wife eventually feeling the absence.

Something will reduce at home.

3. “You don’t understand me anymore.”

Many emotional affairs are usually built on the fantasy of “this person understands me better than my spouse.”

Meanwhile, the wife he’s complaining about has been raising children with him, managing bills with him, praying for him, tolerating his moods, and seeing the unfiltered version of him for years.

But now, the woman seeing his best behavior during carefully controlled conversations is the one who “understands him.”

Please.

Of course, the other woman feels easier because real life has not entered yet.

They are not discussing school fees, in laws problem, bills, and other realities of married life.

Affairs thrive in fantasy because fantasy has very little responsibility attached to it.

Men who are emotionally drifting toward another woman usually rewrite their marriage negatively to justify their feelings.

They know what they are doing is wrong, so there needs to be a legit reason they are falling in love wth another woman.

And one reason they make up is that you don’t understand them.

If your husband suddenly starts talking like a misunderstood orphan in his own marriage, he might be up to no good. 😏

4. “I’m not happy.”

Don’t get this point twisted.

A man saying he’s unhappy does NOT automatically mean he’s cheating or in love with another woman.

Marriage sometimes has difficult seasons, and life can make people emotionally exhausted.

But a man who is already pouring his affection on another woman will say he’s not happy.

I mean, he has to be; if not, he wouldn’t need outside attention.

Okay, you are unhappy, what’s he way out?

If the solution does not involve sorting things out with your wife to make things better, but you prefer seeking outside excitement, you are not being sincere.

You just want to stray.

5. “We’re just friends.”

Okay. Fine. They’re just friends.

But does she know that?

Because there is a kind of “just friends” that married men have with women they are developing feelings for.

And it looks nothing like platonic friendship, and the wife usually senses it.

Opposite-sex friendships in marriage are not wrong. My husband has female friends. I have male friends.

We won’t stop needing friends just because we are married.

But there is a difference between a friendship your spouse knows about, is comfortable with, and has met the person, and a friendship that he gets defensive about when you ask questions.

And this very one he’s defensive about is definitely a friend you do not want in your marriage.

6. “I love you, but I’m not in love with you.”

This sentence needs to be retired from the mouths of emotionally confused men because what exactly do you want your wife to do with that information?

Frame it or put it on the fridge?

“I love you, but I’m not in love with you” is one of those phrases men use when they want to sound honest without sounding guilty.

It gives them room to act like they are still decent.

Like, “At least I said I love you.”

But the second part of the sentence is the knife.

“I’m not in love with you.”

That is where the real message is hiding.

He’s telling you he no longer desires you, and your presence now feels like duty instead of delight.

And sometimes, the reason he is “not in love” with you anymore is because he has been feeding that romantic part of himself somewhere else.

Love doesn’t remain fresh where it is being starved.

If a man gives attention to another woman, of course, his wife will start feeling dry to him.

You cannot water another garden every day and then complain that the one at home is not blooming.

7. “Maybe we got married too soon.”

What does “maybe we got married too soon” really mean after years of marriage and all the pleasures of life you’ve had together?

It is not always about the timing; sometimes, it is about comparison.

When a man is developing feelings for someone else, he’ll look at his marriage like it was a mistake he made before he “knew better.”

The love story he once proudly told people becomes “maybe we were too young.”

Who forced you?

Were you kidnapped to the altar?

This phrase is very painful because it questions the whole foundation of your life together, not just the marriage.

And he is not saying it because he has suddenly discovered a deep philosophical truth about marriage.

It’s because another woman is now making him feel young and excited.

So instead of admitting that he’s emotionally attached to someone else, he’s saying maybe you got married too soon.

Which practically means: I have met someone who makes me wonder what my life would have looked like if I had chosen differently.”

And that is a dangerous place for a married man to be.

A woman can feel when her husband’s heart is no longer fully at home.

She may not have evidence yet, but her spirit knows when the room has changed temperature.

So don’t let him confuse you with big grammar and emotional speeches.

Listen, observe, ask direct questions, and don’t beg for a place in a heart that is busy making room for someone else.

Marriage needs love, yes, but it also needs honesty.

The wound of betrayal is painful, but the wound of being lied to while your intuition is screaming can make a woman doubt herself for years.
