“The very first moment I beheld him, my heart was irrevocably gone.” – Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

You are with a guy that you absolutely love.

He is the love of your life, and perhaps it wasn’t love at first sight, but you fell head over heels for him.

The feeling of being in love is unmatched by any other in this world.

It takes every emotion within you and amplifies them.

Really, feeling butterflies in your belly is good, but does the love of your life also consider you to be the love of his life?

No one wants to experience the pain of heartbreak; hence, this is an important question to ask yourself.

Does he think you are the one for him?

Is he serious with you or just stringing you along?

Before putting all your eggs in one basket, you need to be sure that he is also as serious about the relationship as you are.

Before your heart is “irrevocably gone,” it is important to know if he also thinks you are the one for him.

I have curated a list of signs he thinks you’re the one …

Let’s find out if your guy thinks you’re the one!

9 Signs He Thinks You’re The One

1. He tells you

signs he thinks you're the one

Yeah, I know… talk is cheap.

However, one of the most common signs he thinks you’re the one is that he tells you.

Of course, I won’t tell you to totally believe his words because when a man loves a woman, he expresses it in more than words.

He acts out his feelings.

There are some guys who can tell you this just to keep you around.

In fact, when I was at University, I came in contact with a man who usually strings women along.

One time, when we were talking about love and relationships, he said, “Women love hearing lies.”

I argued against this ideology but he ended it by pointing out the fact that I was single while he was juggling four different ladies at the time.

My point is, many guys will tell you stuff like ” you are the one for me” glibly but they can’t totally fake the actions that prove that a guy thinks you are the one for him.

For this reason, if his actions don’t match his words, you need to ignore those words.

They are just baits to keep you in a situationship.

This doesn’t discount the fact that a guy who thinks you are the one will tell you how he feels; it just means that you need to take note of the other signs I will be talking about.

If they are present, well, there you have it…

He truly loves you and thinks you are the one for him.

2. He spends a lot of time with you

signs he thinks you're the one

A major litmus test that shows a guy truly loves you is when he spends a lot of quality time with you…

Without any sexual undertones.

Really, this is something that is becoming very rare to find in our days, with many people just being in relationships because they want a regular sex partner.

If he makes an effort to spend time with you, just talking about the things you want from life, your dreams and aspirations, it is a sign he thinks you’re the one.

Guys will not invest so much in a relationship if they don’t have a serious goal in mind.

It gets even better if you can spend so much time together without attempting to kill each other.

Of course, it is normal for even the most in-love couples to have conflicts.

However, the fact that he still wants to spend so much time with you is a sign he thinks you’re the one.

Add this to the previous sign, and I believe your relationship with him is beginning to look really good.

3. You can be yourself around him

signs he thinks you're the one

This is a major sign he thinks you’re the one.

You may have felt the need to pretend in past relationships.

You may have needed to act like someone you are not.

But this relationship just seems different.

Right from the start, you have just felt so comfortable around him.

He doesn’t have that judgemental air that people have around them when they are with someone who doesn’t act like them.

In fact, he encourages you to be yourself.

True love doesn’t seek to make your partner a clone of yourself.

True love accepts your unique personality without complaints.

However, you should note that this is not an excuse for negative attitudes.

You can’t have negative behaviors and just expect your partner to accept them as part of your unique personality.

It won’t work.

A sign he thinks you’re the one is that he encourages you to be yourself around him.

4. He is vulnerable with you

It’s not just enough that he encourages you to be yourself around him.

An absolute sign that a guy is serious about his relationship with you is that he is vulnerable with you.

Vulnerability is not something that guys express easily.

Years of social conditioning have made males a little hesitant to open themselves up and let someone in.

So, when a guy begins to open up and discuss really confidential matters with you, it is a sign that he is deeply into you.

He lets his guard down and shows you who he really is.

Growing up, I would sometimes overhear married women talking about how men can go to unimaginable extents just to get a woman they like.

They would usually end it with…

“Just let him marry you first; he will start showing you his true colors.”

However, when a guy is comfortable enough around you to be himself, it is a sign he may think you’re the one.

After all, what is the point in pretending to someone you want to spend the rest of your life with?

This doesn’t excuse bad behavior, though, and if he has some terrible character flaws, he needs to work on them.

For example, it is okay for him to have anger issues as long as he is working on it.

But if he physically abuses you when he is angry, don’t make excuses for him.

Don’t say things like…

“He has anger issues, but I know he loves me.”

Don’t make excuses for toxic behaviors.

5. He is completely committed to the relationship

It has become increasingly rare to see people who are truly committed to their relationships.

On Social media, there is this trending ideology among ladies…

“Don’t allow your boyfriend to stop you from meeting your husband.”

It simply means not being committed to a relationship with a guy who hasn’t married you yet.

In the same way, guys can be in a relationship with a lady and still be out there, actively looking for a replacement for her.

What a cynical generation we are!

If he is not actively looking for love on dating apps like Tinder or flirting with other women every other time of the day, it is a sign that he is really in the relationship.

He is ready to put the appropriate tag on your relationship, and he doesn’t seem shifty when you ask him questions about his plans for the relationship.

When a guy finds it hard to put a label on whatever relationship you have, it is a sign that he is not so into you.

He could make excuses about how what you have is so special that a tag can’t be put on it, but trust me, it is a lie.

When a guy thinks you’re the one, he is confident enough to be committed to the relationship.

6. He plans for the future with you

signs he thinks you're the one

If you were wondering what it means to be actually committed to a relationship, this is it.

It means that you are confident about the relationship and you are ready to plan your life based on that belief.

If he thinks you are the one, he would want to plan his future with you.

He will always talk about things he wants to do with you months or years into the future.

You just know that you are an important part of his life and he doesn’t have any plans of leaving you in the foreseeable future.

7. He wants to meet your friends and family

Usually, guys dodge meeting any of your friends and family.

This is because meeting friends and family adds an additional level of complexity to the relationship that many playboys can actually do without.

However, if your man wants to meet your friends and family so much that he clamors for it, it is a sign he thinks you’re the one.

He wants to get to know your family on a personal level, and this is a good sign that he has great intentions for you.

He may be doing this because he knows that they are a part of your life and will soon be a part of his, too.

It is his attempt to have a good relationship with your family that shows how committed he is to making the relationship work.

8. He prioritizes you

signs he thinks you're the one

Of course, he has friends and family, too, but when a man thinks you’re the one, he prioritizes you.

This simply means that he puts you first.

It’s not an obsession for a man to put the lady he wants to spend the rest of his life with first.

It is a sign of his commitment to the relationship.

He makes efforts to support you whenever you are going through tough times.

He is a strong support system for you, and you know that he is ready to help whenever you need him to.

9. He is your biggest cheerleader

signs he thinks you're the one

One of the benefits of being in a relationship with the right person is that you have your personal source of motivation.

He is your biggest fan and makes no attempt to hide it.

Regardless of what you aim to achieve, he is there with you every step of the way, cheering you on to greater heights.

Even as you make advancements in your career or education, he doesn’t see it as a threat.

He takes it as a win for all and gives the loudest ovation.

That’s the way he shows that he thinks you’re the one for him.

He wants you to know that he loves you and wants you to be the best you can be because he sees a future with you.

Ultimately, if he shows a combination of some or all of the above signs, it is a sign that he thinks you’re the one for him.

Do you feel the same way about him?

If you do, I must say that I hear wedding bells ringing in the not-so-far future…

And I am thoroughly excited for you!
