Let me start by digressing to tell you that I find the term “side chick” very hilarious!
I always wonder what initiated the term “chick.”
Was it an intentional derogatory term coined to demean women who have affairs with other women’s partners?
I will be sure to find out because I’m really curious, but that’s not what this article is about.
It is about the intriguing question, “Can a man fall in love with his side chick?”
Side chicks are women or ladies who are in affairs with men who are already taken.
They are like the 2nd option or, in a more popular term, “the other woman”.
They come in different forms, shapes, and sizes, and even though what they are doing is wrong, many of them do not seem interested in turning a new leaf.
In fact, the number of women choosing to be side chicks daily is quite alarming.
Maybe it is the fact that they can not seem to get their own man.
Or the sheer excitement that comes with having an illicit affair, or the fact that they get to have a man yet remain somewhat independent, or even because they feel genuine love for the man, I do not know.
But I do know that some of these sisters are not taking it easy on these streets at all; they are holding on to other women’s men like a kid holds on to a candy bar.
Of course, because it is an illegal relationship, it comes with many uncertainties and doubts.
The answer is yes, a man can fall in love with his side chick.
I mean, it is a no-brainer; anybody can fall in love with anybody.
Love does not always make sense or happen reasonably.
People fall in love with random people they just met; how much more is a woman with whom a man has shared many intimate moments?
Even though it is wrong because he is in a committed relationship or marriage, the truth is that it can happen.
Why?
I will tell you why.
6 Reasons A Man Can Fall In Love With His Side Chick
1. Shared experiences and history
When we decide to get involved in people’s lives or give them access to ours, we open up ourselves to them.
We go through different seasons with them, and they become a part of us.
A man’s side chick may not be his legal wife or partner, but because of having some form of relationship with him, especially an intimate one, she has access to some parts of his life.
They may go through difficult seasons together, she may be there for him in hard times, and he may find solace and comfort in her because of the nature of the relationship they have.
This can create a strong bond and make him fall in love with her even though she is not his primary partner.
2. She is doing the most
When people know that they are not naturally at an advantage, they try to put in more effort to give themselves some upper hand.
For instance, a kid from a poor home whose parents do not have all the connections and rich friends would most likely try to study harder and qualify for scholarships and other available opportunities.
As opposed to the rich kid who does not have to do much because they are already naturally advantaged.
The same applies here.
The side chick knows that she is not the main partner, so in most cases, she will put in more effort to please the man than his main partner would.
So, while the main partner or wife may not do so much or stick to the bare minimum, the side chick is working overtime to try to please him.
She aims to get him to fall in love with her, and sometimes she achieves that.
3. Trouble at home
When there is trouble in paradise, people do different things.
There is no home without challenges, and there is no relationship that does not have its fair share of ups and downs sometimes.
But when either of the partners decides to seek solace or a route of escape in another person, other than their partner, they open the door for infidelity.
Instead of finding a solution to the existing issues, some men turn to another woman, and that woman may ultimately win their hearts.
4. She was his first love
Some men love one woman but marry another.
This happens for various reasons, but that is not what we are talking about today.
The point is that the side chick may have been the man’s true love from the beginning, but he went ahead and married someone else, and now he is returning to his first woman.
This happens all too often, and many times, it’s a lost cause for the wife because the challenge she is up against predates her coming into the picture.
5. She fulfills his fantasies
Have you heard it said that “men are like babies?”
Well, there is some truth to that statement because when a baby is well fed and catered for, they will settle in the bosom.
If the wife is uptight or doesn’t meet the man’s needs whereas his side chick lives to fulfill his fantasies, he can eventually fall in love with her.
In time, what he feels for his wife is just obligatory, while his side piece, who speaks his love language and fulfills his fantasies, has his heart.
6. He is unstable
Honestly, sometimes the man is just a confused man who falls in love with a new woman every five working days.
Well, I was just exaggerating, but what I mean is that some men are very poor in commitment and find it difficult to stay loyal.
So, the fact that they are in committed relationships or marriages does not stop them from getting into an entanglement and even falling in love with the side chick.
They are just unstable men with vacillating feelings and desires, and a quote says that “a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
That is the definition of this man.
Of course, if a man falls in love with his side chick, it shouldn’t come as a surprise because the fact that he could have a side chick in the first place says a lot about the kind of person he is.
If we are being real, his love or affection should not be regarded much because he once felt the same for his main partner but now they’ve shifted to someone else.
That says a lot about the stability – or lack of – of his feelings.
So yes, a man can fall in love with his side chick because love is a function of different factors, but the strength of that love may not be reliable.
