How Long Can a Woman Stay Without Sex? 12 Factors That Determine

Sharing is caring!

Just yesterday, I was thinking about how much God loves us humans to have blessed us with the gift of sex.

But then I couldn’t help but wonder, how long can a woman stay without sex?

A lot of marriages are sexless, and I’ve written about why men and women stay in sexless marriages.

While there are many reasons why someone may choose not to have sex, the question still begs: how long can a woman stay without sex?

Well, there is no definitive answer.

Every woman’s body and sexual needs are different.

Some women may require more frequent sexual activity, while others can go longer periods without it.

Just like how people like us can’t go a day without coffee, others can’t even stand the smell.

So, there are factors that determine how long a woman can go without sex.

Let’s discuss them:

How Long Can a Woman Stay Without Sex?12 Factors That Determine

1. Personal Beliefs

How Long Can a Woman Stay Without Sex?

Never underestimate the power of personal beliefs and values.

Personal beliefs largely shape our lives, including our approach to sex.

And one of the sources of our personal beliefs is religion.

I don’t know of other religions, but as a Christian, I know the Bible is against sex before and outside of marriage.

In fact, it is considered a sin.

So, if you’re a devout Christian and hold yourself to this standard, this could mean going without sex for an extended period of time.

Another example of personal belief is someone who chooses to be celibate for personal or spiritual reasons.

The length of time a woman can stay without sex will largely depend on her personal beliefs and how important they are to her.

2. Stress

Stress can mess up our bodies in many ways we never thought possible, and sex drive is no exception.

When we’re stressed, our cortisol levels increase, which can suppress the production of sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone.

This could result in a decreased libido or even loss of interest in sexual activity altogether.

So, if a woman is going through a particularly stressful period in her life, it could affect her ability or desire to have sex.

And if it goes on for a prolonged period, fam, it could mean going without sex for longer than usual.

3. Physical Health

As enjoyable as sex can be, you need to be in good physical health in order to fully experience and appreciate it.

In fact, when you have something as minor as a headache or stomach upset, the last thing you want is someone jumping on you for sex.

So, it makes sense that if a woman is dealing with a chronic illness or physical ailment, her body may not be in the best place to engage in sexual activity.

This could mean going without sex until she recovers or finds alternative ways to satisfy her needs.

4. Emotional Health

Mental and emotional health are crucial factors when it comes to sexual desire and satisfaction.

If a woman is dealing with emotional trauma, depression, or other mental health issues, it’ll affect every area of her life, including her sexuality.

In fact, some women may lose their sex drive altogether due to these factors.

So again, the length of time a woman can go without sex will depend on how long it takes for her to heal and get back to a healthy emotional state.

5. Your Partner’s Libido

Sometimes, the reason a woman goes without sex is not because she doesn’t want it but because her partner’s libido is on the decline.

This could be due to various reasons such as age, stress, medical conditions, or even medication.

If her partner’s sex drive is low, and she doesn’t want to find alternative ways to satisfy her needs, then it could mean going without sex for a while.

6. Life Circumstances

Sometimes, life just gets in the way—work, school, family obligations, you name it.

When you’re swamped, sex might not be at the top of your to-do list.

And if these circumstances persist, it could mean going without sex for longer than usual.

Adulting sometimes is realizing that we have to put our sexual desires on hold and prioritize other responsibilities.

In fact, you might not even have the time and space to be horny! lol

7. Emotional Connection

Not everyone can have sex without some level of emotional intimacy or connection with their partner.

Well, I cannot.

Which is why I’ll never understand how some people can have casual sex and be okay.

Just like in Hollywood movies, you meet someone for the first time, and before you know it, you are exchanging bodily fluids with them.

If you’re like me, then it is impossible to have sex without some form of emotional connection.

Therefore, if a woman doesn’t feel emotionally connected with her partner or is not in a committed relationship, she might choose to go without sex until she finds someone who fulfills that need.

8. Relationship Quality

One of the signs a woman is not happy in her marriage is unwillingness or decreased interest in physical intimacy.

For many of us women, sex is more than just a physical act.

It is also about connecting with our partners on a deeper level and feeling desired and loved.

So, if the relationship quality is poor or there are unresolved issues between her and her husband, she may choose to go without sex instead of forcing herself into something she’s not fully invested in.

This could result in a long period of celibacy until the underlying issues are addressed and resolved.

9. Social Norms

You know, when people talk about having a high libido, they are often referring to men.

We women, on the other hand, are expected to be more reserved when it comes to sexual desires and activities.

In fact, do you know that a lot of married women hide how good they could be in bed from their husbands because they don’t want to be perceived as too promiscuous, wild, or dirty?

So, it’s impressive for a man to be a lion in bed while a woman is expected to be a lady.

These societal expectations can make women feel like they should be having more or less sex than they actually want.

10. Lack of Opportunity

How long a woman can go without sex also depends on her access to opportunities for sexual activities.

For instance, if a woman is in a long-distance relationship or living in an area with limited dating prospects, it could mean going without sex for a long period of time.

In this case, it’s not that she doesn’t want to have sex, but rather the opportunity just isn’t there.

She may choose to wait until she’s in a more favorable situation or find alternate ways to satisfy her needs.

11. Age Factor

”Forever young” is a phrase that many women strive to embody, but sis, when it comes to sex, age is not just a number o!

As a woman gets older, her body’s natural hormone production changes, which can alter her libido and the way she experiences pleasure.

This is perfectly normal, but it might mean that an older woman has a lower sex drive than she did when she was younger.

This doesn’t even mean she won’t want or enjoy sex; it just means her needs may have changed over time.

12. Personal Choice

Lastly, how long a woman goes without sex may simply come down to personal choice.

I think this is the most important point because no matter the factors that may influence a woman’s sex drive, it ultimately comes down to her own decision and comfort level.

Some women may choose to go without sex for spiritual or personal reasons, while others may prioritize their career or other goals over sexual activity.

Some women are perfectly happy being celibate for extended periods of time, while others can’t go a week without getting intimate with their partners.

Some women can’t make love when they are stressed, while others use sex as a means to relieve stress.

So, how long can a woman stay without sex?

The answer varies from person to person and depends on (but not limited to) the various factors I shared, but ultimately, it’s entirely up to her personal choice.
